Greetings all who, by some happenstance of clickery, have found themselves on these here pages!
On October 17, 2007, a couple of months after my 35th birthday, I discovered I was going to be a dad. To put it relatively mildly… ooh blimey! And all that kind of stuff. Anyway, since then, my other half and I decided we wanted to announce the fact of our pending parenthood to a select few, but not to the world at large. But now… world at large time! Hence this blog…
The first entry herewith is actually something I wrote, but didn’t publish anywhere, at the beginning of January ‘08, but it still mostly applies, so I’ve kept it mostly unchanged. Just so you know.
Anyway…
Enjoy the blog! And please feel free to add your comments, whether they are directly related to something I’ve said, related only to the extent that you’d need a quantum computer to figure out how, or not related in the slightest (but without, where possible, sending me ads for companies who supply hairdressing equipment and the like)…

Great blog Dan. I can’t get my head around the cost of prams and cots and baby clothes either. At 31, I am hoping to start all that guff in a couple of years time when I finish my MA and start Law school (so baby is starting school when I qualify as a solicitor…although the best laid plans of mice…)
If nature blesses us then I will be clothing little jude-ette in clothes from Asda and Matalan and I shall get the pram and other paraphenalia second hand!!! I can’t see the point of kitting junior out in £100 outfits from baby gap when s/he will grow out of it in a few months!
You obviously have your sights on the important things about fatherhood; a child who is loved and valued just for being themselves is the luckiest child in the world!

Thanks, Jude!
Well what baby actually notices what clothes they are wearing? As long as they are comfortable and warm.
Toys, however, that’s a different matter… 2nd childhood, here we come!!
